Tournament #4 Hosted by Dalhousie AC |
The Dalhousie AC Rams are hosting the UKC Blue Devils, Mount Allison Mounties and Sainte-Anne Dragons at the ACAA's fourth and final badminton tournament of the regular season. The teams will be looking to fine tune their skills for the upcoming conference and CCAA championships. UKC has won the overall team standings at the previous three events, building upon their strong showing at last year’s CCAA Championships, which resulted in a silver medal for men’s doubles. |
Dynamiques de Sainte-Foy vs. Dawson Blues |
The Dynamiques de Sainte-Foy and Dawson Blues enter this match with identical 9-1 records and four spots dividing them in the CCAA Rankings. The country’s No. 2 Dynamiques will try to maintain their narrow hierarchy over the No. 6 Blues, but Dawson did hand Sainte-Foy their only loss early in the season. The Ch. Saint-Lambert Cavaliers (10-2) will also be affected by this outcome, as they currently sit above their rivals in the standings but suffered losses to both teams. |
Algonquin Thunder vs. George Brown Huskies |
As the top teams in the OCAA West trade wins and losses the Algonquin Thunder (11-0) have kept a clean sheet in the East. However, they hit the road this weekend to face their division’s third place team, the George Brown Huskies (8-3), who contended against Algonquin earlier this season. A dominant win could lead the Thunder back into the CCAA Rankings, but the Huskies can also make a statement by toppling the conference’s last undefeated team. |
*CMU Blazers vs. ACC Cougars |
The Assiniboine Community College Cougars (7-7) are hosting the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers (7-6) in a pair of matches to determine second place in the MCAC standings. Both teams have gone on streaks this season with the Blazers entering this match having won their last four. ACC and CMU haven’t met since early in the season, when they traded wins in a pair of exciting five set matches. |
Red Deer Kings vs. SAIT Trojans ACAC MEN'S VOLLEYBALL Jan. 31 @ 8 pm MT & Feb. 1 @ 8 pm MT |
A home-and-home series in the ACAC South features the league leading SAIT Trojans (16-4) versus the third place Red Deer Kings (12-4). The highly competitive division and conference is featured prominently in the CCAA Rankings, with the Kings at No. 8 and the Trojans at No. 14. Going into this one, SAIT has more wins but RDC has games in hand and took both matches in their previous series. |
Camosun Chargers vs. Capilano Blues PACWEST WOMEN'S BASKETBALL Jan. 31 @ 6 pm PT & Feb. 1 @ 1 pm PT |
Reiko Ohama (PACWEST and CCAA Athlete of the Week) and the Capilano Blues (9-3) welcome the third place Camsoun Chargers (6-4), one week after toppling the CCAA’s top ranked VIU Mariners. The Blues have been steadily climbing the national ranks and find themselves at No. 10, but the Chargers are closely matched statistically with Capilano in terms of PF, PA and +/- averages. |
*NOTE: MCAC teams do not have access to CCAA National Championships until 2021-22.
