Vos named CCAA Men’s Soccer Coach of the Year

Nov. 10, 2015 – Jonathan Vos of the Holland Hurricanes has been named the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Men’s Soccer Coach of the Year.

He received the award this evening at the 2015 CCAA Men’s Soccer National Championship banquet, hosted by Champlain College in Saint-Lambert, QC.

Vos guided the Hurricanes to an 11-0-1 record and top spot in the ACAA. Holland also went 1-1-1 vs. CIS opponents in exhibition play. He also won the award in 2012.

“He is a key reason why the Hurricanes were undefeated again this season,” said David Munro, the CCAA’s Men’s Soccer Convenor. “Vos garners tremendous respect from his own players and opposing teams.”

This season, he produced a more balanced offensive attack. Leading scorer and All-Canadian Ibrahima Sanoh found the back of the net 26 times in 2014, but only 12 times this season.

“Vos has turned the Hurricanes into perennial champions in the ACAA and has been pushing hard for success at the CCAA championships as well,” said Munro.

Vos demands a commitment to academics and a team-first attitude among his players. He is the Techinical Director for PEI Soccer and coaches several provincial teams. As well, Vos conducts many clinics and sessions for coaches and players throughout the province.

CCAA Coach of the Year winners receive a customized ring provided by Jostens Canada, the Official Ring Supplier of the CCAA Championship Awards Banquet.

Dailly guided the Capilano Blues to a 7-6-2 record and third-place finish in the PACWEST after finishing last in the standings a year prior. After a winless September, the Blues turned their season around with a 7-1-1 record in October. Daily is the Blues Summer Soccer Camps Director and is an instructor and head coach at the West Vancouver Soccer Academy.	Stevens led the SAIT Trojans to an 8-2 record and second-place finish in the ACAC’s South Division. Despite having first-year players, the Trojans improved by six points in 2015. Stevens strives to develop strong and trustworthy relationships with each player and focuses on finding a balance between academic achievement and athletic prowess.	Pereira guided the Fanshawe Falcons to a 7-1-2 record and first-place finish in the OCAA’s West Division in his first year as head coach. He provides support to his student-athletes so they can be successful both in the class room and on the field. Pereira is a squad coach for 2003 and 2005 boys programs and he also works with the Vancouver Whitecaps Academy program.	Harvey led the Élans de Garneau to a 5-1-2 record and second-place finish in the RSEQ. Harvey takes pride in developing players and giving them the necessary tools to get to the highest level possible. Eight of his former players currently play for the Université of Laval Rouge et Or. Harvey also coaches the Kodiak de Charlesbourg Division 1 team.
