Mount Allison’s McCormack Gymnasium
Virtual Campus Tour | Local Hospitality |
Tracing its roots to 1839, Mount Allison University is a primarily undergraduate liberal arts and sciences university. Mount Allison's beautiful and historically rich campus is nestled on the Tantramar marshes in the heart of Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada. Mount Allison’s McCormack Gymnasium, located at the heart of the Athletic Centre on campus, has been transformed through a $5.5 million ventilation and renewal project. This state-of-the-art 10,800 square foot gymnasium is marked for: one full court basketball or two cross court basketball, one full court volleyball or two cross court volleyball, six badminton courts, and bleacher seating for 1,000 spectators. Mount Allison University is located within the territory of Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral territory of the Mi’kmaq. |

Accessibility |
Mount Allison’s Athletic Centre does not currently have a barrier-free accessible ramp to the Gymnasium level, but support is available to help those requiring assistance to enter the first floor of the Athletic Centre, including the McCormack Gymnasium. Please read below for more details on accessibility. If you will require accessibility assistance during your visit for the championship, please contact accessibility@mta.ca. Accessible Seating Accessible seating is located directly in front of the bleachers at each end of the gym and is labelled as such. If more accessible seating is required, please notify our Event Staff. What entrance should I use? The Athletic Centre does not currently have a barrier-free accessible ramp to the Gymnasium level. Traditional stairs lead to the main entrance. Guests using wheelchairs and scooters can enter the gym using our mobile lift located on the Wallace McCain Student Centre side of the Athletic Centre indicated below. Interactive map available at mta.ca/map
*The mobile lift and accessible parking for the tournament is located in the area between the Athletic Centre and the Wallace McCain Student Centre, indicated above. I will need assistance navigating the McCormack Gymnasium and accessible areas on campus. Event Staff can assist you with entering and exiting the building, as well as finding and accessing your designated seat and accessible washrooms on campus. Please email accessibility@mta.ca in advance of your arrival if you will need assistance from our Event Staff on campus during the tournament. Visit mta.ca/map and turn on the accessibility features under menu to view accessible parking, entrances, and elevators on campus. I use a wheelchair or scooter.
I use a walker or cane. At each event, our staff will be available and always happy to assist. You may also enter through the side entrance of the Athletic Centre using the mobile lift. Our Event Staff will be stationed at the lift and will operate the lift for you. I require assistance getting to my seat. Event Staff can assist you with entering and exiting the building, as well as finding and accessing a seat. I have a guide/service animal. Animals or pets are not permitted at the McCormack Gymnasium, with the exception of service animals. A service animal is defined as any animal that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability and can be identified as such. Please note the environment will be extremely loud. I have a companion or caregiver. Companions/caregivers can be seated next to the individual they are accompanying in a wheelchair or scooter in the accessible viewing area. Ideally, tickets for companions/caregivers must be purchased at the same time to ensure seating is available. Should you require any additional information to assist you in planning your visit to the McCormack Gymnasium email us at accessibility@mta.ca. |
