PEI to welcome CCAA’s best in Women’s Soccer

PEI to welcome CCAA’s best in Women’s Soccer

The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women’s Soccer National Championship will be hosted by Holland College in 2023.

The Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) institution will host the event in Charlottetown, PEI, from Nov. 8-11, 2023.

“We are excited to return to Holland, which has a long history of hosting phenomenal CCAA Championships,” said Marlene Ford, CCAA Women’s Soccer Convenor. “We are looking forward to a great week of soccer on Prince Edward Island, and I’m confident Holland’s great hospitality will be extended to the visiting teams from across the country.”

All championship matches will be contested on the outdoor turf facility at the Terry Fox Sports Complex, which is located in nearby Cornwall, PEI.

The tournament will feature eight teams from across Canada: conference champions from the Pacific Western Athletic Association (PACWEST), Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC), Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC), Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA), Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) and ACAA as well as a wildcard team and the host Hurricanes.

In recent years, Holland has produced a viable Women’s Soccer program in the ACAA. Since 2009, the Hurricanes have attended six CCAA Championships. Holland has earned back-to-back conference championship crowns in 2019 and 2021.

The Hurricanes have hosted seven CCAA Championships since 2015, including the highly successful 2022 CCAA Women’s Volleyball National Championship.

The expertise and momentum generated by these events has and will continue to greatly serve Tournament Chair Albert Roche and his staff at Holland.

“PEI may be Canada’s smallest province, but we have garnered an impressive reputation as a sport’s minded province with many regional and national events being held here,” said Roche, Athletics & Recreation Director at Holland.

“We are always refining our hosting skills and plan to put our best foot forward for the hundreds of student-athletes, coaching staff and fans who will descend upon Charlottetown to take in some of the country’s best soccer action.”

Holland College recognizes and acknowledges its location in the traditional territory of the Mi’kmaq people of PEI.
