Wildcard positions have now been determined for the 2020 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men’s and Women’s Basketball National Championships.

Wildcard berths in CCAA Women’s Basketball will go to the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) and Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ).

The 2020 CCAA Women’s Basketball National Championship will be hosted by Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo, BC, from March 18-21.

Meanwhile, wildcard positions in CCAA Men’s Basketball will be awarded to teams from the Pacific Western Athletic Association (PACWEST) and RSEQ. The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) currently leads the CCAA wildcard standings, but they relinquish their position as hosts of CCAA Nationals.

The 2020 CCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship will be hosted by Humber College in Etobicoke, ON, from March 18-21.

Last March, a pair of wildcard teams clashed in the bronze-medal match at CCAA Nationals. The Humber Hawks went on to defeat the Nomades de Montmorency 84-76 to earn a CCAA medal.

CCAA Men’s & Women’s Basketball National Championships consist of eight teams: Five provincial champions, two wildcards and the host.

The wildcard spots are awarded to CCAA member conferences based on their performance at National Championships over the past three years. Conferences awarded wildcard positions are eligible to send a second team to CCAA Nationals. A conference may not fill more than two spots at a CCAA National Championship, which excludes the host conference from being eligible for wildcards.

RSEQ: March 7-8 at Dawson College in Westmount, QC
OCAA: March 6-8 at St. Clair College in Windsor, ON
ACAC: March 5-7 at Medicine Hat College in Medicine Hat, AB
PACWEST: Feb. 27-29 at Capilano University in North Vancouver, BC

MEN

ACAA: March 6-8 at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, NS
