2020 MBB: Quarter-final matchups

Vanier Cheetahs (A1)
vs. SAIT Trojans (A4)

MATCH 1: 1 p.m. ET

In a thrilling RSEQ Championship final, the Vanier Cheetahs defeated the Dynamiques de Brébeuf 79-74 to capture the provincial crown. Led by third-year guard Karim Mane, the Cheetahs finished atop the RSEQ standings with a 16-2 record. Vanier captured CCAA titles in 2011 and 1987. They’ll face the SAIT Trojans, who are ACAC Champions for the fourth straight season. SAIT crushed the Ambrose Lions 91-69 in the ACAC Championship final. The Trojans placed second in the ACAC South Division with a 17-4 record. SAIT earned CCAA gold in 1986 and 1982. 


George Brown Huskies (A2)
vs. VIU Mariners (A3
)

MATCH 2: 3 p.m. ET

The George Brown Huskies defeated the Humber Hawks 78-65 in the OCAA Championship final to capture their first provincial title in 44 years. The Huskies finished first overall in the OCAA East Division with a 17-3 record. George Brown captured its only CCAA title in Men’s Basketball at the inaugural National Championship in 1975. They’ll face the defending CCAA Champion VIU Mariners, the PACWEST’s Wildcard entry. The Mariners fell 97-89 to the Douglas Royals in the PACWEST Championship final. Led by PACWEST Defensive Player of the Year Tyus Barfoot, VIU finished second overall in the PACWEST with a 16-2 record. The Mariners also earned CCAA gold in 2013 and 1994.


Dynamiques de Brébeuf (B2)
vs. Humber Hawks (B3)

MATCH 3: 6 p.m. ET

The Dynamiques de Brébeuf will represent the RSEQ as a Wildcard entry. Brébeuf fell 79-74 to the Vanier Cheetahs in the RSEQ Championship final. Led by RSEQ Player of the Year Sébastien Lamaute, the Dynamiques placed second in the conference (behind Vanier) with a 15-3 record. They’ll face the host Humber Hawks, who are six-time CCAA Champions. The Hawks fell 78-65 to the George Brown Huskies in the OCAA Championship final. Despite losing its first four contests of the season, Humber eventually finished in a tie for first place in the OCAA West Division with a 15-5 record. The Hawks, who earned CCAA bronze last March in Langley, B.C., last captured a National Championship in 2015.


Douglas Royals (B1)
vs. Mount Allison Mounties (B4)

MATCH 4: 8 p.m. ET

The Douglas Royals defeated the VIU Mariners 97-89 in the PACWEST Championship final to capture their second conference title in three years. Led by PACWEST Player of the Year Courtney Anderson, the Royals finished atop the conference standings with a 17-1 record. Douglas, CCAA gold medalists in 2008, earned a silver medal at the 2018 CCAA Championships. They’ll face the ACAA Champion Mount Allison Mounties. Mount Allison defeated the MSVU Mystics 81-75 in the ACAA Championship final. The Mounties finished in a tie for second in the ACAA with a 12-6 record.
