Cégep Champlain St. Lawrence will host the 2023 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Golf National Championships, presented by PING.
The Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) institution will host the four-round event from Oct. 16-20, 2023, in Quebec City.
Club de Golf Lorette, which is located in Loretteville and is one of the more reputable golf clubs in the Quebec City region, will be the CCAA Championships host course. It offers a 6,600-yards par 72 course with a 127 slope, which will provide CCAA golfers with many challenges.
“The CCAA is excited to return to Quebec City and Club de Golf Lorette,” said Jay Shewfelt, CCAA Golf Convenor. “This will be the fourth time Champlain St. Lawrence has hosted the CCAA Golf Championships and we are confident the staff will do an amazing job to make this an outstanding student-athlete experience.”
The course has played host to multiple provincial and national events. In addition to its great history, Club de Golf Lorette hosted the Women’s Junior Nationals in summer 2020.
St. Lawrence previously hosted the CCAA Golf Championships in 2006, 2013 and 2014. The RSEQ institution was originally approved to host the event once again in 2020 – which never materialized.
“The Club de Golf Lorette is an outstanding venue for this event and has a great reputation since 1920,” said Jeremie Ouellet, Sports Director at St. Lawrence and the Championship Chairperson. “The Club de Golf Lorette was celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2020, and since we could not hold the CCAA Championships in 2020 due to COVID-19, the club is looking for a great occasion to experience a national championship.”
The Golf program at St. Lawrence has been very successful over the past 20 years, winning six provincial championships, six national championships and many well-deserved silver and bronze medals. The college is building a strong reputation with a winning attitude and culture.
St. Lawrence Lions sports teams are a source of great pride for the RSEQ institution. Their mission is to provide a high standard of performance and development for athletes committed to achieving their true potential. A total of 10 varsity teams represents St. Lawrence at the regional and provincial levels as members of the RSEQ.
The 2024 CCAA Golf National Championships will be hosted by the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA).
