Day Three at the CCAA Golf Championships presented by PING

The 2022 CCAA Golf National Championship, presented by PING, sees its leaderboard take shape through three rounds at Deer Creek Golf Club.

As she has since the opening day of the championship, Humber’s Hayley McCallum continues to lead the field on the women’s side. Shooting a 78 in the third round on Thursday, Hayley sits at a combined +15, 14 strokes ahead of second place.

In second, another Humber athlete in Elaine Surjoprajogo has found her way back into the top three after shooting a 79, tied for the second best score of the third round.

André-Laurendeau’s Camille Gagnon had a noticeable rise on day two as she jumped seven spots, ad she would rise another position to third as she finished the day only 11 over par. Through three days, Gagnon is a +31, only two strokes more than second place.

The top three women’s teams only slightly shook up on Thursday. The OCAA-1 team has a comfortable lead in first at +44 over three rounds. With only one stroke fewer than their provincial counterparts, RSEQ-1 move from third place to tied for the second place position with RSEQ-2. OCAA-2 is also on the bubble, only nine strokes behind the two-way tie for second.

In the men’s field, Humber’s Matthew Bremer not only jumped into medal contention but also found his way into first place with a score of 72 on the day.

Fanshawe’s Mitchel Hampson moved up from third to a tie for second with André-Laurendeau’s Simon Ménard, both at +7 through three rounds and only two behind the leader.

Chase Broderson of Medicine Hat had the best score of the day with a 71, leaping six spots into the top ten and more specifically the sixth position.

Humber holds a comfortable leave with a total to par gross score of +40. André-Laurendeau sits tight in their second place spot with a +65 score and Fanshawe sits third with a +77 to signify no changes to medal position placements. However, Georgian had an impressive rise of three spots to fourth place, only four strokes behind Fanshawe.

The fourth and final round begins at 10:00 AM on Friday, with Janey Wilson (SAIT) and Kelly Orr (Portage) teeing off for the women, and Jeremy Allen (St. Lawrence) and Chase Plain (Durham) teeing off for the men.

Friday projects to be the warmest day of the championship week. Mainly sunny, it looks to be five degrees in the morning with only a 10% chance of precipitation and will improve to 13 degrees with a 20% chance in the afternoon.
