Day One at the CCAA Golf Championships presented by PING

The 2022 CCAA Golf National Championship, presented by PING, officially began on Tuesday with the first round of a four-round competition at Deer Creek Golf Club.

There is a three-way tie for first place at the end of round one. Bryden Dilley of Georgian College, along with two of Humber College’s women’s competitors, Elaine Surjoprajogo and Hayley McCallum, each shot a 79 to open the national championship to score seven over par.

The Humber Hawks trio of Surjoprajaogo, McCallum and Madison Ouellette that make up the OCAA-1 squad are on top of the leaderboard amongst women’s teams with a combined 14 over par. Tied for second place is the OCAA’s second team of Georgian’s Dilley, Devyn Fraser of Durham College and Shannon Coffee of St. Clair College, as well as the RSEQ-1 team of Juliana Lacoste and Morgan Best from John Abbott College.

Amongst the men, Colby Friedrich of Medicine Hat College leads the way with a score of one under par. Humber College’s Matthew Bremer was even on the day, shooting 71 through 18 holes. In a two-way tie for the third-place spot, SAIT’s Brodie Shields-Tyler and Fanshawe College’s Mitchel Hampson each sit one over par going into the second round.

Humber leads the men’s teams with a combined +15, Champlain St. Lawrence and Fanshawe College round out the top three with a collective +20 and +21, respectively.

Round two begins at 10:00 AM on Wednesday morning with Matthew Bremer (Humber College), Gavin Prosser (Georgian College) and Bryson McCulloch (St. Lawrence College) teeing off at hole one and Samuel Breton Gagnon (Champlain St. Lawrence), Félix Bouchard (André-Laurendeau) and Chase Broderson (Medicine Hat College) at the tenth hole. The forecast in Ajax projects to be four degrees Celsius in the morning, improving to nine degrees in the afternoon with a 70% chance of precipitation.
