Day Two at the CCAA Golf Championships presented by PING

The 2022 CCAA Golf National Championship, presented by PING, marks its halfway point with the completion of the second round on Wednesday at Deer Creek Golf Club.

On the men’s side, Simon Ménard shot a 68 to jump from fifth to the top of the leaderboard. Ménard sits even halfway through the championship. The round one leader, Colby Friedrich from Medicine Hat, slips one spot with a score of 74 in the second round and is +2 overall. Mitchel Hampson of Fanshawe stays put in third place, following up his round one score of 72 with a 73.

The biggest leaderboard rises of the day include Jake Houston (John Abbott) rising 18 spots, Jayden Dudas (Medicine Hat) jumping 11 spots and Félix Bouchard (André-Laurendeau) with a leap of 10.

Humber stays in the first place position through two rounds, shooting a combined one stroke less than Tuesday. The individual improvements paid off for André-Laurendeau, jumping three spots to second place with a combined total of +43 through two days. Fanshawe stays put in third place, only three strokes behind.

Hayley McCallum from Humber finished the first round in on top of the leaderboard on the women’s side and she continues to hold the first-place position halfway through the championship, shooting 74 on Wednesday, an improvement of five strokes from her first round score.

Chanybel Chiasson from André-Laurendeau leaped five spots into second place, shooting 78 on the day. John Abbott’s Morgan Best shot 79, jumping two spots into third to round out the top three.

Other noticeable rises amongst the women’s competitors include both Camille Gagnon (André-Laurendeau) and Shannon Coffey (St. Clair) from tied for seventh to tied for fourth.

The OCAA-1 team continue to lead all women’s teams through round two, with a combined 31 over par through two days. RSEQ-2 leaped two spots into second with a daily low of 159 combined strokes. RSEQ-1 remain in the top three but fall one spot to third.

Round three on Thursday has a projected weather forecast of four degrees in the morning with a 40% chance of precipitation, rising to eight degrees in the afternoon with a 60% chance of showers.
