2024 CCAA Women’s Volleyball Player of the Year & All-Canadians

Shae Boyes of the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings is the 2024 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women’s Volleyball Player of the Year.

The student-athletes were honoured at the 2024 CCAA Women’s Volleyball National Championship, hosted by Red Deer Polytechnic in Red Deer, AB.

Boyes delivered standout stats: 287 kills, ranking first in the ACAC. With 3.99 kills per set, she claimed the 2nd spot in the conference. Her serving skills shone as she led the ACAC with 0.86 aces per set. Defensively, Boyes secured the 10th position with 189 digs. She topped the ACAC in total points (370) and points per set (5.1). These solid stats underscore Boyes' exceptional contributions to her team’s success.

“Shae is an explosive athlete, attacking some incredibly difficult balls as a left-handed, left side,” said CCAA women’s volleyball convenor, Beth Clark. “She is a team player but will leave a personal legacy with the Vikings.”

A two-time CCAA Academic All-Canadian (2022, 2023) with a current 3.2 GPA, Boyes' embodies excellence both on and off the court. As the team captain for three years, she serves as a catalyst for the team's recent success. Beyond her individual accomplishments, Boyes is recognized for fostering a positive team environment—taking the time to teach red shirts skills outside of official practices and consistently supporting and encouraging her teammates. Her commitment to sharing knowledge and craft contributes to the overall growth of the team.

“Boyes' drive and determination is next to none. She has had extraordinary success as an individual, however, it is evident that she would trade it all for the teams success and that is exactly why she is the ultimate teammate and competitor. She will be leaving her jersey in a better place then when she found it and we are grateful for her lasting legacy of hard work, academic success, mentorship and friendship,” said Aly Andersen Vikings Administration & Communications.

The CCAA Women’s Volleyball Player of the Year receives a customized ring provided by Jostens Canada, the Official Ring Supplier of the CCAA.
