Bronze Semifinal 2: College of the Rockies Avalanche 3 vs Canadian Mennonite University Blazers 0The final match of Day 3 featured the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers against the College of the Rockies Avalanche. While the Blazers started the first set with a lead, courtesy of a couple of kills by Matthew Janzen, the Avalanche quickly tied the score at 8-8. The Avalanche seized control of the latter half of the set, securing the first win in their three-set sweep. The Avalanche did not ease up at the start of the second set. Although blocks from Ryan Bilous – five total in the match – kept the Blazers in contention, their attacks failed to consistently find the floor. Before the Blazers could close the gap, the Avalanche regained control and won the second set (25-23). The Avalanche controlled the third set, utilizing smart ball placement to counter the Blazers' comeback efforts. A kill by Albert Francisco solidified the Avalanche’s place in the Bronze Medal Match tomorrow against the Université de Sainte-Anne Dragons. The Blazers’ 4imprint Player of the Match was awarded to libero Michael Hwang. Diego Policarpo, with 18 kills and two aces, earned the Avalanche’s Player of the Match. |
