CCAA Championships return as St. Clair hosts Golf Nationals

CCAA Championships return as St. Clair hosts Golf Nationals

St. Clair College will host the 2021 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Golf National Championships, presented by PING.

The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) institution will host the event Oct. 11-15, 2021, at the Ambassador Golf Club in Windsor, ON.

Christina Gatto, the St. Clair Saints Athletic Director will be the Host Chairperson.

The Ambassador Golf Club was designed by renowned golf course architect Thomas McBroom, who has left an indelible imprint on the Canadian golf landscape by masterfully creating over 65 signature courses – with many of them ranked among the top in Canada.

The par-71 course, one of the premier public golf courses in Ontario, has recently played host to the PGA TOUR Canada – Mackenzie Tour Windsor Championship.

The Scottish/Irish-links look to the golf course features “an aggressive bunkering style featuring dramatic fescue banks that provide playing strategy and definition” according to McBroom.

St. Clair previously hosted the CCAA Golf Championships in 2005 and 2009. The Saints last hosted Nationals five seasons ago, when they presented the 2016 CCAA Women's Basketball National Championship. In the OCAA, the Saints last hosted the 2020 Provincial Women’s Basketball Championship.

Gatto and her staff will undoubtedly treat the CCAA’s top golf student-athletes and coaches to yet another exceptional event according to OCAA President, Nathan McFadden.

“The administration and athletic staff are an excellent group of professionals who have always provided the best of student-athlete experiences when hosting at any level,” said McFadden. “We are confident that this event will be highly successful, genuinely student-focused and memorable for all.”

The last CCAA Golf Championships were hosted in 2019 by Cégep André-Laurendeau in Sorel-Tracy, QC. Champlain College – St. Lawrence captured both the men’s and women’s team titles.

*Fall CCAA Championship schedule is subject to change due to any adverse circumstances surrounding COVID-19*
