The hosts from Holland College won the battle of the Atlantic in our final bronze medal semi-final match of the day in Summerside on Thursday.  A scoreless first half had supporters on pins-and-needles in the stands as the two ACAA rivals exchanged scoring opportunities at both ends of the pitch.

An Emily Lepine goal in the 47’ for Holland propelled them to the lead, and with excellent defensive play for the remainder of the match, they secured the 1-0 win.

The 4Imprint Players of the Match were Emily Lepine, from Holland, and Simona Busillo, from UKC.

MATCH 10: Champlain Saint-Lamber Cavaliers 3, Douglas Royals 1

The Cavaliers used a strong second half to power them to the 2023 CCAA National Women’s Soccer Bronze Medal Match with a victory on Thursday versus the Royals.

After a scoreless first half, the Cavaliers finally solved the Royals defence in the 63’ when Brianna Pinazza tucked the ball into the corner of the net.  Champlain Sainte-Lambert maintained their momentum, scoring a second goal in the 71’ when Emilie Grondines converted.

With timing ticking away, the high-powered offence of the Douglas Royals cut the deficit in half when they scored in the 84’ with a goal from Haylie Husting.

They would continue to pressure, but they were unable to score the equalizer, ultimately giving up a goal in the second minute of injury time when Sara Botelho scored to give the Cavaliers the 3-1 win.

The 4Imprint Players of the Match were Brianna Pinazza, from the Cavaliers, and Anna Klaver-Valdez, from the Royals.

MATCH 09: SAIT Trojans 1, Brandon Bobcats 0

The SAIT Trojans and Brandon Bobcats took to the pitch to kickstart day three of the 2023 CCAA National Women’s Soccer Championships.  Each team had their eyes on a victory to end their championship in the 7/8th Placement Match.

A windy morning made scoring a challenge as both teams played through the opening 45’ in a scoreless draw.

In the second half, as penalty kicks seemed immanent, Jordyn Morris put SAIT ahead as she found the corner from the keepers left to give the Trojans the 1-0 lead in the 84’.

The Bobcats were unable to match the Trojans as time expired.

The 4Imprint Players of the Match were Jordyn Morris, from SAIT, and Brogan Henry, from Brandon.
