
Medal Matches Set at CCAA Championships
The action heated up on Day 2 of the 2025 CCAA Badminton National Championships at The King's University in Edmonton, Alberta, as the group stage wrapped up and semifinal matches determined the finalists in each category. Group Stage Recap In Men's Singles, Timothy Lock dominated the group stage with a perfect 5-0 record, followed by Thomas Ashton at 4-1. Hossein Ahmadi, Sahil Lokhande, and Smit Patel each finished with 2-3 records, while Wilson Paulch ended at 0-5. On the Women's Singles side, Ritu Shah impressed with a flawless 5-0 record, while Emma Tran followed closely at 4-1. Sienna Pricca finished at 3-2, Akshaya Jayakeerthi at 2-3, Mandy Ni at 1-4, and Ellen Shen at 0-5. Men's Doubles saw three teams tie with 4-1 records: Carl Canillo/Paul Ouano, Jordan Lau/Anthony Tso, and Raphael Motel/Jonathan Su. Jan Dave Deocampo/Ty Nguyen ended 2-3, while Ben Broadbent/Mike Ta went 1-4 and Joel Cote/Mikel Cote finished 0-5. Semifinal Results In the Men's Singles semifinals, Timothy Lock advanced with a commanding 21-7, 21-10 win over Sahil Lokhande. Thomas Ashton joined him in the finals after defeating Hossein Ahmadi 21-13, 21-9. For Women's Singles, Ritu Shah cruised past Akshaya Jayakeerthi 21-4, 21-3, while Emma Tran battled to a 21-16, 22-20 victory over Sienna Pricca. Men's Doubles action saw Carl Canillo/Paul Ouano defeat Jan Dave Deocampo/Ty Nguyen 21-12, 21-15, while Jordan Lau/Anthony Tso edged out Raphael Motel/Jonathan Su 22-20, 21-19. Dhruvkumar Raval/Sherry Wu secured the other finals spot after a tight 21-16, 24-22 victory over Davis Wong/Khushi Vaniya. The championship matches are set for Saturday, March 1, 2025, at The King's University Gymnasium. The day's schedule will begin with bronze medal and consolation matches at 10:00 am MT, followed by the finals at 1:30 pm MT, and concluding with the awards and closing ceremonies at 4:00 pm MT. |
