Ten new members will be inducted into the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association’s Hall of Fame this June.
The annual CCAA Hall of Fame Banquet will be held on June 6 in Abbotsford, BC, during the Association’s annual general meetings. This year, 10 individuals from the Pacific Western Athletic Association (PACWEST) will be honoured. Six athletes, three coaches and a builder will be recognized.
“It is with great pride and reverence that the PACWEST will recognize these 10 worthy individuals,” said Jake McCallum, PACWEST President. “Each inductee has strongly impacted not only our history, but of the history of the CCAA over the years.”
The CCAA Hall of Fame distinguishes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Canadian collegiate athletics, either by virtue of their performance on an athletic team, or by meritorious efforts on behalf of the CCAA.
The PACWEST, formerly the British Columbia Colleges Athletic Association and Totem Conference, was founded in 1970. There are currently 10 PACWEST member institutions located across British Columbia. A total of 58 teams compete in five sports for the right to represent BC at the CCAA National Championships.
At the inaugural CCAA Hall of Fame Banquet in 2014, Mal Stelck (pictured above) and Gerald (Jerry) N. Lloyd of the PACWEST were inducted in the Builder Category.
Each week in May, the CCAA will unveil two inductees:
