Collège Lionel-Groulx set to host 325 student-athletes
Everything is in place to host the 325 athletes competing in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Cross-Country Running National Championship on November 11.
Collège Lionel-Groulx is proud to host the event and is excited to welcome representatives from 38 colleges from across Canada.
These student-athletes trained tirelessly over the last few weeks to be at their best on the cross-country trails of Equestrian Park in Blainville. The venue, which hosts an annual cross-country event, features a particularly interesting course, with multiple surfaces and a section in the forest. The course includes gravel, grass and sand sections, alternating between slightly undulating terrain, banks, a hill and flat portions.
Collège Lionel-Groulx’s Nordiques are excited to measure themselves against their peers on their home course. Coming off wins at both recent provincial and conference championships, the women’s team is among the favourites, while the men are aiming for a top 10 result.
Athletes will be able to register at the competition venue and recon the course on Friday, November 10. The official event takes place the following day, on Remembrance Day, with the women starting at 11:30 and the men at 12:30.
Collège Lionel-Groulx committed itself to organizing a closing ceremony that pays appropriate tribute to the determination, perseverance and hard work of student-athletes. Medals, banners and trophies will be awarded in the evening at the Laval Sheraton Hotel, with top-performing athletes also receiving All-Canadian awards.
Best of luck to all!
