Game 8: Aigles d'Ahuntsic - 1 vs. Concordia Thunder - 0
![]() For the sixth time in the last eight years, it will be an all-Quebec affair in the gold-medal match at the CCAA Women’s Soccer National Championship as les Aigles du Collège Ahuntsic defeated the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder 1-0 Thursday night.
After putting up a five-spot on Capilano Wednesday evening, Ahuntsic had more difficulty with the sturdy defensive game of the Thunder. The teams didn’t allow each other very much in the first half and keepers Madison Kempster for CUE and Anaïs Marie-Luce were there to shut the door as the last line of defence when scoring opportunities did arise. Scoreless at half time, the game moved a bit in CUE’s favour in the second half with the Thunder pushing more possession into Ahuntsic territory. It was a counterpunch by les Aigles that produced the winning goal. Somewhat against the run of play, Ahuntsic was able to get the ball into the area in the 68th minute and after a scramble in front of the CUE net, the ball fell to Ashley Jacques who put it on net where Kempster got a piece of it but not enough to prevent it from rolling over the line.
CUE summoned a couple of dangerous chances late as they searched for the equalizer. Emma Ward was set up for a first-touch blast from the 18-yard box but went high and as it got close to 90 minutes, Abigail Burton broke past the last Ahuntsic defender but her shot was smothered by Marie-Luce. Ahuntsic advances to the final Saturday at 3 p.m. where they will face Collège Montmorency in a rematch of the RSEQ final.

Game 7: Nomades de Montmorency - 1 vs. Seneca Sting - 0
![]() There will be a new CCAA women’s soccer champion in 2024 as les Nomades du Collège Montmorency knocked off the defending title holders Seneca Sting by a 1-0 score Thursday afternoon.
Fresh off their win by the same score over PACWEST champion VIU to open the tournament, Montmorency hunted down a bigger game against Seneca, with the Sting being the No. 1-ranked team in the country for much of the year. The winner came in the 18th minute off a corner kick. Aella Leysour De Rohello delivered a beautiful, left-footed out-swinger to the far side of the area where first-year defender Audrey Lefebvre headed it home with a diving effort.
Montmorency never allowed Seneca to get organized on attack in the second half and managed to keep All-Canadian and Player of the Year finalist Marlene Siwula in check. Seneca mounted a desperate offensive in the three minutes of injury time at the end of the game and generated a couple of good looks on goal but couldn’t find the back of the net. Montmorency advances to the gold-medal game which will be Saturday at 3 p.m. against the winner of the Ahuntsic.

Game 6: Capilano Blues -1 vs. MSVU Mystics - 0
![]() Erika Di Lorenzo’s first-ever goal for the Capilano Blues was a highly dramatic one, a game-winner coming in the waning moments of a 1-0 victory over the Mount St. Vincent University Mystics. In minute 86, the Blues were awarded a free kick and Michaela Salvino delivered a long, bending drive that drew a cluster of players near the far post, but it was first-year defender Di Lorenzo who got a head on it to knock it home. Capilano had an edge in possession and scoring chances over the course of the game, including a flurry of chances about 30 minutes in that included a drive off the crossbar by Maya Smith. MSVU keeper Morgan Gillis had just about all the answers in goal for the Mystics until Di Lorenzo solved her in the late going. The Mystics pushed forward and there were some nervous moments for the Blues in the four minutes of added injury time but they managed to hold on to the final whistle.

Game 5: VIU Mariners - 8 vs. Brandon Bobcats - 0 Goals came early and often for a motivated VIU Mariners side Thursday morning as they recorded an 8-0 win over the Brandon Bobcats. The Mariners seemed eager to move past their opening day 1-0 setback to Montmorency and broke the ice in the ninth minute on a penalty-kick goal by Taylor Kinley.
A PK was awarded when Kinley got tangled up near the goal line and a foul was assessed to the Bobcats keeper. Kinley calmly stepped up and converted for what stood up as the winner. VIU then tallied three times in six minutes with Courtney Ingram, All-Canadian Saki Meshida and Kinley again. Jade Dillabough and Ella Gignac rounded out the first-half scoring for the Nanaimo-based side.
The outcome was never in question, but the Mariners put the finishing touches on by adding two more in the second half.
