SAIT, Turgeon earn their first CCAA Cross-Country Gold Medals

Nolan Turgeon from the RESQ's Victoriaville Vulkins is the new CCAA Men's National Champion winning in a time of 25 minutes and 26 seconds. Turgeon was the men's individual silver medal winner in 2021.

In spite of the chilly weather, great times were posted across the board. Moktar Said from the ACAC's SAIT Trojans wasn't too far behind Turgeon, earning the silver medal in a time of 25 minutes and 38 seconds.  Xavier Lemaitre from the RESQ's Champlain Saint-Lambert Cavaliers goes home with the bronze in a time of 25 minutes and 47 seconds.  Tyler Jones from St. Clair, OCAA and Mathis Vallieres from Victoriaville, RESQ rounded out the top five.

The team race was also a close affair with the winner finishing only 15 points ahead of third and a narrow 4 points ahead of second. At the end of the day the ACAC's SAIT Trojans have been crowned 2022 CCAA Cross-Country National Champions.  They had a team score of 45 points and an average time of 26 minutes and 34 seconds.  The team was made of CCAA silver medalist Moktar Said, Keiran Marchand, Tofik Said, Yahye Mohamed, Elsami Rosa and Brian Rono.

The 2021 CCAA defending champion, Fanshawe Falcons, came a close second with a score of 49 points and an average time of 26 minutes and 47 seconds.  The team was made up of Sandy Freeman, Sam Cumming, Ethan Roche, Ty Breedon, Aaron Reid and Lucas Liboiron.

Rounding out the top three was the OCAA's St. Clair Saints.  They had a team score of 60 points and an average time of 26 minutes and 56 seconds. The team consisted of Tyler Jones, Jacob Fitzpatrick, Rick Nepomuceno, Matt Lafleur, Russell Niedre and Michael Horrobin.

It was a truly outstanding day of running in Medicine Hat, Alberta and the Rattlers were extremely happy to have played hosts.  Good luck to next year's host Dalhousie Agricultural College.
