Bryce Mason of the University of Kings College (UKC) Blue Devils is the 2022 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men's Badminton Player of the Year.

In addition, Mason (Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association) along with Narayan Ramdhani of The King's Eagles (Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference) and Yuge Zeng of the George Brown Huskies (Ontario Colleges Athletic Association) have been named 2022 CCAA Men's Badminton All-Canadians.

The student-athletes were honoured at the 2022 CCAA Badminton National Championships, hosted by the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) in Edmonton, AB.

"Bryce is tenacious on the court, never ever giving up on any play," said Michael Kopinak, CCAA Badminton Convenor. "Off the court, he is one of the most respectful student-athletes I've ever come across."

A well-known badminton athlete, Mason went undefeated in the ACAA regular season, Conference Championships and national qualifier in Men's Singles and Men's Doubles.

Continuing with that success, Mason is competing in his fourth CCAA Championships with long-time partner Sam White in what will be their last trip to Nationals together. The pair will be a force to be reckoned with when they step onto the court in Edmonton.

"The duo of Bryce Mason and Sam White make it very easy to cheer for their success," said Kopinak.

The decorated warhorse of the Blue Devils roster, Mason is also a crucial component of UKC's ACAA championship team. Having already earned two silver medals at CCAA Championships in Men's Doubles (2019, 2020), Mason is a man on a mission to attain a CCAA gold medal this week.

"Bryce is one of the most determined and nationally decorated athletes to come out of Nova Scotia in the past 25 years," said Andrew Harding, ACAA Badminton Convenor. "He fears no one on the badminton court and brings an intensity to the game that is both contagious to his teammates, and a nightmare for his opponents."

The CCAA Men's Badminton Player of the Year receives a customized ring provided by Jostens Canada, the Official Ring Supplier of the CCAA. In addition, CCAA Men's Badminton All-Canadians receive a $100 e-gift from Li-Ning, the Official Badminton Equipment of the CCAA.
