Cégep André-Laurendeau will host the CCAA Golf National Championships as defending champions in the men’s competition and with high hopes for the women.

"We are very excited to host the CCAA national championship at the Continental Golf Club in Sorel-Tracy,” says head coach Benoit Lemieux. “Ensuring that all the details are in place is very important to us, and we hope that all teams will have a great experience next week.”

Three of the Boomerang’s five men’s golfers are returning from last season’s gold medal team, while the women’s team is also prepared to compete for the championship.

"The ultimate goal is victory for both the men and the women,” states Lemieux. We need to focus on doing all the little things well and staying focused through all 72 holes to give ourselves a chance.”

Among the members of the Boomerang team, Béatrice Grisé is excited for the competition and thinks that last year's experience benefited their teams.

"I cannot wait for the tournament to start,’ says Grisé. “I believe that last year's experience will greatly help the boys' team defend their title, because they have a good team spirit and they know what to expect. We can also count on the help of our coach, Benoit Lemieux.”

Grisé and her teammate Camille Lapierre-Ouellet ended up just outside the medals in 2018, finishing in fourth in the women’s competition.

"Camille and I would like to finish in the top three and build upon my last CCAA championship experience with my Cégep and Camille," suggests Grisé.

Simon Ménard is eager to participate in the competition with his brother Olivier Ménard.

"It's really special to participate together in this tournament, on the same team,” says Simon. “I'm really excited to have a chance to help Olivier win this championship for a second time, especially in his last year at Cégep André-Laurendeau, "he says.

Benoit Lemieux thinks that no matter the outcome, his team can finish this tournament with their heads held high.

"I expect that we will be proud of ourselves, regardless of the end result," Lemieux adds.
