March 9, 2016 – Sylvain Noël of les Cavaliers du Bois-de-Boulogne has been named the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Women’s Volleyball Coach of the Year.
Noël received the award this evening at the 2016 CCAA Women’s Volleyball National Championship banquet, hosted by Holland College in Charlottetown, PEI.
He guided Bois-de-Boulogne to an 11-3 record and second-place finish in the RSEQ. The Cavaliers also placed second at the Coupe de Montreal tournament.
“He has been a perennial coach in the CCAA for many years and has established the Cavaliers de Bois-de-Boulogne as a contender in the RSEQ and CCAA over the years,” said Fred Batley, CCAA Women’s Volleyball Convenor.
Noël has always promoted the development of individual player’s technical abilities, physical strength and mental toughness, according to Batley.
Noël also serves as the head coach for the U18 Montreal Celtique. He was recently a guest speaker at Le Club de Volleyball Celtique conference.
“Coach Noël continues to demonstrate a passion for coaching, giving time, energy and expertise to the Cavaliers and to Celtique U18 team,” said David Munro, CCAA VP Sport Development. “The CCAA is pleased to see Sylvain rewarded for such a fine season.”
CCAA Coach of the Year winners receive a customized ring provided by Jostens Canada, the Official Ring Supplier of the CCAA Championship Awards Banquet.

| Hyde led the Mariners to a 21-5 record and first-place finish in the PACWEST. The 2013 CCAA Coach of the Year aims to create an environment that allows his student-athletes to achieve greatness in every avenue of life. Hyde runs summer beach leagues and clinics for more than 150 youths. He is one of the founders of the Vancouver Island High Performance Beach program and also trains many B.C. Summer Games athletes. His Mariner Gold Medal camp is one of the largest female youth camps in B.C. | O’Dwyer guided the Trojans to a 17-7 record and second-place finish in the ACAC’s South Division. SAIT improved by six points this season with better blocking, which translated into better defense. The Trojans made fewer errors and put more pressure on the competition. O’Dwyer’s team is like a family and each member has a responsibility to do their part in ensuring success. | Clarke led the Lords to a 19-1 record and first-place finish in the OCAA’s East Division. Team cohesion and discipline on and off the court have significantly improved and as a result, Durham earned 12 more points in the standings compared to the previous season. Clarke’s goal is to provide growth and development to ensure his players are successful as students and as athletes. He also hosts high school clinics and tournaments. |
