2018 CCAA Soccer Wildcards

Wildcard berths have been confirmed for the 2018 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Men’s and Women’s National Championships.

The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) and Pacific Western Athletic Association (PACWEST) will receive wildcard entries to the 2018 CCAA Men’s Soccer National Championship. The tournament will be hosted by Holland College in Charlottetown, PE, from Nov. 7-10.

Meanwhile, the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) and Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) have earned wildcard berths to the 2018 CCAA Women’s Soccer National Championship. The tournament will be hosted by Douglas College in Coquitlam, BC, from Nov. 7-10.

CCAA Men’s & Women’s Soccer National Championships consist of eight teams: Five provincial champions, two wildcards and the host institution.

The wildcard spots are awarded to CCAA member conferences based on their performance at National Championships over the past three years. Conferences awarded wildcard positions are eligible to send a second team to CCAA Nationals. A conference may not fill more than two spots at a CCAA national championship, which excludes the host conference from being eligible for wildcards.

At the 2017 CCAA Women’s Soccer National Championship, the wildcard Champlain Cavaliers (RSEQ) were narrowly defeated 1-0 by the Élans de Garneau in the gold-medal game. Meanwhile, the NAIT Ooks (ACAC), the second wildcard team, placed fourth at the tournament.
