Garneau three-peats in CCAA Women's Soccer

Garneau 3, Ahuntsic 1

In the CCAA Women’s Soccer gold-medal game, the defending champion Élans, on a strong strike from Karyna Fiset, scored first in the 14th minute of the game to take the hometown crowd out of it.

Then, CCAA All-Canadian Dominique Fortin connected on a penalty kick in the 28th minute to stretch Garneau’s lead to 2-0.

In the second half, a change of offensive strategy from the Indiennes allowed Sara Medeiros to reduce the deficit with a late goal in the 83rd minute. Garneau, however, would add a finally marker in the 90th minute to clinch its third consecutive CCAA gold medal in Women’s Soccer.

Players of the Game were Dominique Fortin (Garneau) and Sara Dussault (Ahuntsic). 

Douglas 2, NAIT 1 (PK)

In the bronze-medal game, Mikayla Hamilton opens the scoring for the Royals in the 27th minute of play, with the assistance of Andrea Perrota.

In the second half, Kaily Mohn of the Ooks levels the score in the 55th minute of the game.

The teams would play two 15-minute halves but nothing would be decided.

In penalty kicks, goalkeeper Alexa Gazzola backstops Douglas to the bronze medal with three huge saves.

Algonquin 1, GPRC 0

In the first half of the 5 vs. 6 placement game, Hailey Martin capitalized on a rare goal-scoring opportunity in this contest late in the first half for the eventual game-winning goal.

The GPRC Wolves were later awarded the CCAA Diana Drury Fair Play Award for their sportsmanship throughout the tournament.

Players of the Game were Jenna Robinson (Algonquin) and Brook Robert (GPRC).

VIU 4, Holland 1

In the first half, Chloe Gummer opens the scoring for the Mariners in the 4th minute of play of the 7 vs. 8 placement game.

Teammate Nicole Foglietta increased her team’s lead in the 14th minute before Jacqulyn Sudsbury strikes back for Holland in the 20th minute on a penalty shot.

But, Gummer restores the three-goal lead by beating goalkeeper Nicole McInnis with her second of the game in the 40th minute. Gummer would then complete the hat-trick in the dying seconds of the first half.
