2019 CCAA Men’s Volleyball All-Canadians

The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association is proud to announce the 2019 CCAA Men’s Volleyball All-Canadians.

The student-athletes, who are selected by their conference based on performance and contribution to the sport and their team, were honoured at a banquet during the 2019 CCAA Men’s Volleyball National Championship, hosted by Red Deer College in Red Deer, AB.

Here are the 2019 CCAA Men’s Volleyball All-Canadians:

Simon Friesen

Reid Marriott

Capilano Blues

Douglas Royals

Friesen, a two-time CCAA All-Canadian, led the Blues to a tie for second place in the PACWEST with an 18-6 record. The fourth-year setter led the conference with 786 assists. Friesen was also a consistent threat offensively, as well as at the service line and blocking positions. The team captain, Friesen’s role was especially crucial in Capilano’s first season under a new coaching staff as he provided stability and leadership on and off the court.

The PACWEST Player of the Year led the Royals to a 20-4 record and first-place finish in the conference. Marriott was second in the PACWEST with 3.48 average kills per set. The second-year outside hitter has exceptional athletic ability and strong academic foundations. Despite being a sophomore, Marriott has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities with his teammates, peers and the entire college community. He is also involved with Volleyball BC and various grassroots community initiatives in coaching and volunteering.

Regan Fathers

The Red Deer captain has a consistent drive to be the best and to always push himself and his teammates to rise to the occasion when it matters most.

Lewington racked up 8.09 assists per set and led the Ooks to a 17-7 record and second-place finish in the ACAC North Division. Not only was the third-year setter the main artery for the Ooks offence, he was also defensively sound, recording 145 digs and 32 blocks. Lewington is quiet, humble and is an outstanding student-athlete and competitor who amazes his teammates with his abilities. He is a former member of the Australian Junior National team.
