2018 MVB: First Round Matchups

SAIT Trojans (B1) vs.
Géants de Saint-Jean (B4)

Thursday, March 8
MATCH 1: 1 p.m. PT

The Trojans captured the ACAC Championship crown with a three-set victory over Keyano. SAIT, led by ACAC Player of the Year Trent Mounter, went 20-4 in the regular season to finish atop the South Division standings. Three of the last four CCAA National Champions have come from the ACAC. The Trojans will face the wildcard Géants de Saint-Jean from the RSEQ. Saint-Jean (9-7) placed second in the RSEQ and was defeated by Limoilou in the conference final. 


Fanshawe Falcons (B2)
vs. VIU Mariners (B3)

Thursday, March 8
MATCH 2: 3 p.m. PT

Led by OCAA Player of the Year Cole Jordan, the Falcons went a perfect 18-0 and finished atop the West Division standings. The Falcons swept Humber at the OCAA Championships to complete the perfect season. Fanshawe placed fourth as hosts at CCAA Nationals last year. They’ll face the Mariners, who dropped a four-set match to Camosun in the PACWEST Championship final. VIU, led by third-year leftside Braydon Brouwer, also went 20-4 in the regular season to finish atop the PACWEST standings.


Titans de Limoilou (A1)
vs. St. Thomas Tommies (A4)

Thursday, March 8
MATCH 3: 6 p.m. PT

Limoilou will look for that elusive 11th CCAA title in Victoria, BC. The RSEQ Champions, runners up at the last three CCAA National Championships, come in as the top seed in Pool A. Les Titans (14-2) cruised to a first-place finish in the regular season before defeating Saint-Jean in straight sets in the RSEQ Championship final. They’ll face St. Thomas, which upset Holland in the ACAA Championship final. The Tommies went 10-7 in the regular season, placing second in the ACAA.


Camosun Chargers (A2)
vs. Keyano Huskies (A3)

Thursday, March 8
MATCH 4: 8 p.m. PT

The host team from Camosun captured its fourth straight PACWEST title with a four-set upset victory over the Mariners in an all-Vancouver Island final. The Chargers went 13-11 in the regular season to place third in the PACWEST standings. They’ll face the Huskies, the ACAC Wildcard entry, who were defeated by SAIT in the ACAC Championship final. Keyano went 21-3 in the regular season to finish first in the North Division.
