2017 CCAA Men's Soccer All-Canadians

The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association is proud to announce the 2017 CCAA Men’s Soccer All-Canadians.

The student-athletes, who are selected by their conference based on performance and contribution to the sport and their team, were honoured at a banquet during the 2017 CCAA Men’s Soccer National Championship, hosted by Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo, BC.

Here are the 2017 Men’s Soccer All-Canadians:

Keith Jackson

Nicolas Morello

Capilano Blues

Capilano Blues

Jackson, the PACWEST Player of the Year, captured the scoring title for the second straight season with 11 goals in 11 games. The Blues captain led his team to an 8-2-2 record and second-place finish in the PACWEST. Jackson is a two-time CCAA All-Canadian and has also earned CCAA Academic All-Canadian and CCAA National Scholar honours. The fourth-year forward’s work ethic is second to none and he serves as a mentor to younger student-athletes at Capilano.

Morello’s seven goals were tied for second-most in the PACWEST and he also set-up many others with his passing and long throw-ins into the box. The fifth-year player showed himself to be perhaps the most versatile player in the conference by proving he can play any position on the field. Primarily a right back, Morello can both shut down the opposition’s top forward with his strength and use his speed to jump into the offence to develop an attack.

Dean Northover

Oscar Miranda

SAIT Trojans

NAIT Ooks

Northover led the Trojans to an 8-1-1 record and first-place finish in the ACAC South Division. The second-year midfielder scored six times, including two game-winning goals, in nine contests. The ACAC Player of the Year is often the smallest player on the field but plays with the most heart. Northover is a very intellectual player and the game seems to slow down when the ball is on his foot.

A first-year midfielder, Miranda was instrumental to the success of the Ooks, leading them to a 9-1 record and tie for first place in the ACAC North Division. His play in the midfield resulted in him being a solid nucleus for a NAIT team that yielded the fewest goals (five) in the ACAC. Miranda displayed tremendous composure and maturity, especially for his age. His leadership skills provided a sense of calm for his team throughout the season.

Bruce Cullen

Kingsley Boasiako

Durham Lords

Humber Hawks

Cullen led Durham to its first OCAA title in 20 years. The Lords captain scored a team-high five goals in eight games, leading Durham to a 6-3-1 record and tie for second place in the OCAA East Division. The second-year midfielder contributed to the Lords allowing a division-best seven goals. Cullen is a key student-athlete at Durham, where he is always involved in fundraising efforts and numerous community initiatives.

The OCAA Player of the Year is a five-time Defensive Player of the Year in Ontario. Boasiako is a tenacious defender and a staple on the backline of a Humber team that finished atop the OCAA Central Division with a 10-0 record, allowing only four goals all season. The Hawks captain is a leader on and off the pitch. Boasiako spearheaded the ‘Run for Andre’ campaign, which raised more than $3,000 for the Lymphoma Cancer Society .

Tinadio Timothé
Makanzu

Samuel
Salter

Élans de Garneau

Dawson Blues

Timothé Makanzu led Garneau to a 7-1-2 record and first-place finish in the RSEQ. The second-year striker tied for second in the RSEQ with seven goals and set up many more as the Élans led the conference in scoring. Timothé Makanzu has developed into a leader, whose passion and intensity on the field serves as motivation to his fellow teammates.

The first-year midfielder was named the RSEQ Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year. Salter led the conference in scoring with nine goals in nine games. At 16, he was selected as a starter for the U18 Quebec team to play at the Canada Games. Salter is extremely motivated to get to the next level. He is a fierce competitor from start to finish, giving 100% at both ends of the field and inspiring his teammates to also raise their level of play .

Ibrahima Sanoh

James Whiteman

Holland Hurricanes

UKC Blue Devils

The ACAA Player of the Year scored an incredible 27 goals and led the Hurricanes to a perfect 12-0 record and first-place finish in the conference. Sanoh, a fifth-year striker, is now a four-time CCAA All-Canadian and has led the Hurricanes to four straight ACAA titles. He is demanding of both himself and his teammates and his leadership at Holland is unrelenting. Sanoh is a gentleman on and off the pitch.

Whiteman led the Blue Devils to an 8-2-2 record and second-place finish in the ACAA. He was second in the conference with 13 goals and led the ACAA in assists. The fifth-year striker has now been named an ACAA All-Conference player in each of his five seasons. Whiteman is an exceptional leader and a supportive teammate. He is known for his speed and athleticism but rounded out his game this season to become one of the top offensive threats in the ACAA.
