CCAA Nationals heading back to Humber

The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men’s Basketball National Championship will be hosted by Humber College in 2022.

The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) institution will host the event in Etobicoke, ON, from March 16-19, 2022.

“Humber has a rich history of hosting quality provincial and national events and they have been recognized over the years for their outstanding hospitality,” said Jeff Harris, former CCAA Men’s Basketball Convenor. “Having recently hosted two successful OCAA basketball championships, Humber will undoubtedly treat Canada’s top collegiate basketball players to an exceptional event and help raise the profile of CCAA Men’s Basketball.”

The tournament will feature eight teams from across Canada: five conference champions, two wildcard teams and the host Hawks.

Humber is a proud original member of the OCAA and has a rich history of participation and hosting in numerous collegiate sports reaching back to 1967. The facilities at Humber are world class and include a newly renovated gymnasium.

“We truly believe that these events should be student focused and include the larger student population,” said Ray Chateau, Director of Athletics at Humber College. “Our vision for this championship will involve students from across a number of academic programs to deliver the best experience for all of the student-athletes and coaches.”

The Men’s Basketball program at Humber is one of the most storied programs in the OCAA and CCAA, leading the province and country in collegiate titles. The Hawks have reached the OCAA podium an incredible 32 times in the past 35 years with 14 gold medals. At CCAA Nationals, Humber has earned 13 medals including six gold. The Hawks were last crowned National Champions in 2015.

The 2022 tournament will be Humber’s 10th CCAA National Championship event. The Hawks last hosted the 2021 CCAA Women's Soccer National Championship.
