UNB Saint John to Host the 2026 CCAA Badminton National Championships
The University of New Brunswick (UNB) Saint John will host the 2026 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Badminton National Championships in Saint John, New Brunswick, from March 4 to 7, 2026. “With an enthusiastic and dedicated team, a dynamic venue, the support of the local badminton community and a revitalized city core, we’re thrilled to create a stage where the nation’s top collegiate badminton athletes can shine. Together, we’re committed to ensuring this championship is not just a competition, but a truly memorable experience for all involved, ” said Natasha Kelly, UNBSJ Athletic Director. The UNB Saint John Seawolves badminton program has seen a resurgence in recent years. After a 16-year absence, varsity badminton returned in 2023, bringing campus pride to new heights. Notably, Seawolves mixed doubles pair Vaibhav Bhatta and Sydney Arseneault earned a silver medal at the 2024 CCAA Badminton National Championships, marking an outstanding milestone for the program. Andrew Harding, CCAA National Badminton Convenor added, “We are thrilled to have UNBSJ step up and host the the 2026 CCAA Badminton Championships on behalf of the ACAA, in just their third season back in the league. Natasha Kelly and her team always do a fantastic job hosting championships, and I have no doubt that this will be a wonderful experience for all athletes. Additionally, athletes and coaches from Saint John, New Brunswick have experienced a lot of success over the years in the sport, and I know the community will be keen to support such a high-profile event.” UNB Saint John is no stranger to hosting national championships, having successfully organized the 2003 CCAA Badminton Championship, as well as CCAA Volleyball (2011) and Soccer (2013) Championships. The 2024 CCAA National Championship will take place at The King's University in Edmonton Alberta from February 25 to March 1.
